Gifts.

2 friends’ birthdays within a span of 10 days,
Bought gifts which both liked alot.
I seldom buy gifts for people,
Only people whom i’m close with.

I spend a few moments to think of what gifts to get,
I’m not the kind who buys random gifts from mini toons,
Wrap it up randomly,
Or sometimes sharing with others.

To me, buying a gift is not just buying a random thing,
Wrapped it up and give it to him.
If wanna buy,
Might as well put some thots into it?

I always hated people who are so stingy,
But yet wanna look good at the same time.
Everyone just throw $10,
and get one random person to buy.

Then when you bring to the host’s place,
You dun even knoe what the hell is in the box.
And then the host look at you and ask,
You stood there, dumbfounded.

My bdae has always been a quiet one,
Cos i dun wan to see such people.
I’ll feel disappointed if i have a gift shared with these people,
but they are as expecting as me to see what it is in it.

My bdae comes this may,
Had alot of talking yesterday,
Lots about careers, tax, payslips, studies, etc
And mostly revolves around — money.

We feel old.
We used to talk abt gossips, cheap food, cheap restaurants,
Now,
We talked about careers, financial planning, unit trusts.

We used to drink juices, cola and sprite,
We now drink sparkling water, wines both red and white.
Perhaps this is what we call it —
Maturity.

All of us are blessed with a gift,
A gift of our own,
Some may be beautiful, rich, kind hearted, and diligent,
For me, i’ve yet to discover it.

Education is not learning what you know,
But learning what you don’t.
